Rotary Club of

Kolappan is representing his wife's grandfather, who is a long-standing Rotarian in Nagercoil, India and currently serves as an Assistant Governor in the region. He, together with the President of the Rotary Club of Nagercoil Elite, has asked me to help establish a connection with a Rotary club in the Seattle area that may be interested in exploring an international partnership for this initiative. As Kolappan and his wife Dharsha are residents of Monroe - he is asking that our club consider an international partnership of both monetary and logistical support.

The primary project supports A.V.D. Higher Secondary School in Ganapathipuram, Kanyakumari District, a school established in 1947. The school's community assessment reports nearly 500 students, many from economically disadvantaged families in the surrounding rural coastal community. Despite the school's strong academic performance, it currently lacks modern laboratories and teaching aids.

The proposed initiative is focused on strengthening STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and digital learning, including:

  • Upgrading Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and general Science laboratories
  • Establishing/improving Computer and Electrical laboratories
  • Developing Smart Classroom capabilities
  • Strengthening technology-enabled teaching and learning resources
  • Supporting teacher development and greater practical exposure to science and technology for students

Come join us as we learn about ths amazing work Rotary is doing across the pond and this exciting opportunity to support their efforts.
